Why the Tortoise Beat the Hare
Slow and steady wins the race.
We’ve all heard the story. The hare and the tortoise are hanging out one day when the hare makes fun of the tortoise for being too slow.
“You’ll never beat me in a race!”
They take off, and before long the hare has such a big lead, he decides to take a nap. Slowly and surely, the tortoise overtakes the hare. By the time the hare wakes up he’s too far behind to win the race.
Who doesn’t like to be the hare? They buy nice houses, drive the newest cars, and live seemingly perfect lives. When they see something they like, they swipe the credit card and drive home with it.
The temptation to keep up with everyone else and have what we want right away can throw a wrench in tomorrow’s goals. According to recent studies, the majority of Americans live paycheck to paycheck.
I don’t know about you, but being just like everything else doesn’t sound so fun to me.
What’s it going to take for you to reach your goals? What steady habits do you need to implement to win your race?
What can I do as a financial planner to help you answer those questions?
Let’s talk about that.
