I Hate Secrets

Pursue education as you plan your future.

There are many musicians I can listen to in the background as I do my work. Luca Stricagnoli is not one of them.

If you’re a fan of magic or music to any degree, Stricagnoli is a must watch. I’ve been playing guitar professionally for 15 years and can copy many famous guitar solos, licks, and styles. What bothers me about watching Luca Stricagnoli is that I have no clue how to replicate what he can do with a guitar.

What’s the secret?

When we are on the outside looking in, “how?” is a natural question to ask. Whether it’s a card trick, a fancy-pants musician like Luca, or eating the best steak of your life, we ask “How’d they do that?”

The same is true when we evaluate our finances and notice our neighbor living in a big house and driving a nice car. Unlike in magic or music, in finances, there’s no special formula. No secret sauce.

I may not know the secret to playing guitar like Luca, but I know how to build a financial plan that my clients understand. There aren’t any secrets to retirement, college, or planning for a dream house. Or at least there shouldn’t be.

You have power over your financial future. Where does power come from? Knowledge. And what’s the opposite of knowledge? Secrecy.

That’s why I hate secrets. Secrets bring weakness, knowledge delivers power.

Empower yourself with the education you deserve.
