More Cowbell!

Develop a protective financial plan.

Who remembers the famous cowbell SNL skit that came out in 2000?

When Will Ferrell jumped in that skit with Jimmy Fallon it forever changed how we hear the Blue Oyster Cult song “Don’t Fear the Reaper.” More cowbell!

You can see the band start to grimace as Will begins to play the cowbell and completely ruins the sound of the song. But every time the band stops to complain, the producer only calls for more cowbell!

Funny how such a small instrument can make such a big difference.

In a band, it’s easy to forget about the background instruments like the bass guitar, the tambourine, or the cowbell—until they’re not there.

Just like every band needs both lead and background instruments, every financial plan needs to include both proactive and protective planning.

Protective financial planning addresses the “what if’s” of life. If I die, become disabled, or become unable to carry out normal life tasks by my own, will I and my family be ok? If I get sick will my expenses be covered? A simple analysis of your insurance coverage can answer these questions.

Protective planning is the cowbell in your financial plan. As a financial planner, I help my clients get “more cowbell.”

Let’s talk about that.
