Are You Planning by Design or Default?
You’ve got a plan, whether you know it or not.
You know them and so do I.
I’m talking about individuals and families who have had great wealth pass through their hands with nothing to show for it at the end of their lives.
This category, unfortunately, includes many lottery winners. They went from princes to paupers in record time.
Other less “lucky” folks enter their retirement years in debt, subsisting on Social Security payments without ever owning a home. Sometimes this situation can’t be helped. But often, at least in the United States, a small amount of forethought can go a long way in bringing financial stability.
It’s an old maxim that we all have a budget and a schedule, whether we know it or not. The goal of financial planning is to help each of us take the time to think – even dream – about our preferred future.
Once we identify it, we can then take action to begin reaching these goals.
It’s a personal passion of mine to help individuals and families create these plans and bring them to fruition. That way, the planning is by design instead of default.
Would you like assistance in designing a proactive retirement savings plan?
As a financial planner, I can help you proactively plan for retirement. Let’s talk about that.
